After some angst and many snow storms, we finally decided where our next adventure will take us- Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Kristen has a two year fellowship doing population, health and environment work. It's long been her dream to work 'in the field' and to be working on holistic approaches to development, so she's very excited. Mike is going to take his time to figure out what he will be doing. We've already seen several jobs posted for computer programmers, so it's likely he'll find something interesting. We've been all packed and ready to go for a couple months now-Kristen is waiting for paperwork to come back in order to get her work visa and a start date. We imagine we'll be leaving by mid-August.
We plan to have a guest room and hope you (yes, you) will take advantage of it! Neither of us have ever been to Addis before, so we've been gathering a lot of information about it and it sounds amazing- temperate climate, extremely safe, great Italian food. Ethiopia was home to early groups of Christians, Jews and Muslims as well as native tribes who have all left their mark to make Ethiopia a fascinating blend of cultures, religions, and traditions. We can't wait for the adventure to start!
Once Kristen has a start date and we have a new address etc., we'll send all that good stuff out.
